Hottest day of the year here so far meant we headed out to buy some new patio furniture this afternoon – I’d been working in the garden with my laptop on an old chest of drawers this morning, and in the end we decided the risk of being seen by the neighbours like that was just too embarassing. Of course, this will curse the weather and mean that it’s unlikely we’ll have any more hot weather this year, so apologies now up front.
Having purchased the said table and chairs, we felt that a cream tea would be the correct way of test riding them once home. Clotted cream, raspberry jam and freshly brewed coffee…I couldn’t finish mine, much to the delight of my other half.
Complete lack of table setting in this pic, but frankly it was all I could do to keep him off the scones long enough for me to take a picture! We were then able to sit out and have dinner later – spinach, sweet potato and coconut curry from a Guardian recipe a couple of years ago. I made it without the tarka dhal this time, but we still had basmati rice, naan bread, mango chutney and yogurt. Felt like we were on holiday with the heat and the low angle sun just slanting through the trees. Perfect end to a beautiful day.
